The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against purchasing five unregistered food products that could pose a danger to the health of consumers as they have not been tested locally.

Public urged to report sale of items lacking a Certificate of Product Registration as they may pose health dangers.

The FDA identified the products as the herb candy Meito Vitamin C Nodoame Mix Fruits (1,000 mg), the Daiso Select Carbonara and Select Sukiyaki sauces, the Hammer on Pretzel Garlic Butter Taste and the Bonito Soup Stock.

The products have not passed evaluation and testing by the FDA, thus lack a Certificate of Product Registration guaranteeing their quality and safety.

In its advisory, the FDA said the manufacture, importation, distribution, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health and food products without the proper authorization from the agency is prohibited.

The FDA asked the public to check products before purchase to determine if they are registered. The agency maintains a site containing a list of registered and tested food and health products.

It urged consumers to report any establishment selling or distributing unregistered food products by sending email at foodsafety@fda.gov.ph or by calling the Center for Food Regulation and Research hotline (02) 857-1900 loc. 8115 and 8112.
