Vice President Leni Robredo will be endorsing and campaigning for the opposition’s senatorial candidates, so says outgoing Sen. Antonio Trillanes.
He adds Leni’s endorsement of the yellow bets will be a big boost and even improve their rankings in pre-election surveys, despite his being aware that Leni just doesn’t have that kind of popular endorsement power.
But why is Leni being picked by Trillanes, a political ally even if he is not a member or officer of the yellow party, to endorse and campaign for the opposition bets?
Shouldn’t the former President, Noynoy Aquino, who has been claimed then by the yellow surveys when the Liberals were in power and position the most popular President, be tapped to prove his and the yellow party’s claims?
Where is Aquino, by the way, since he has not been seen around Liberal Party (LP) meetings? Is he likely to be endorsing and campaigning for the yellow bets? He may just end up red-faced if none of those bets he endorses makes it to the Senate, especially his cousin, Bam Aquino.
Why does it seem that Noynoy is not even being considered as the chief endorser of the yellow bets, or is he being advised by his former LP chums not to endorse or campaign for the yellow senatorial bets since the candidates would have lesser chances of winning a Senate seat?
What a reversal of fate and electoral fortune! Wasn’t it the yellow Noynoy who had dreamed and pushed for a 12-year power reign of the LP?
Wasn’t it Aquino who these yellows and their group of crooks looked up to for power and pelf and, of course, protection?
Now, it appears that Noynoy is not even considered as an endorser and campaigner of the opposition senatorial bets?
And today, the LP bets and, of course, the yellow-hued Trillanes go for Leni instead to endorse and campaign for the opposition bets, even claiming it would be a big boost for their candidates.
Trillanes said Vice President Leni in the coming days will come out to formally endorse these opposition candidates which will be a big boost to their chances of winning.
At this time, if there are still believers of the yellow survey firms, Leni’s approval rating is on a downward trend and, unfortunately, she just doesn’t seem to have that gravitas good and strong political leaders have, as well as lack charisma and charm needed to persuade crowds.
Leni knows that even if she runs for the presidency, she cannot expect to win. Her only chance at becoming President is to take over should Duterte resign, get impeached and convicted, be permanently incapacitated or dies.
But the outgoing senator apparently realizes how weak the yellow team and its allies are in the race, but with his usual bravado, he added while the May race will be “tight” with 14 reelectionists and returning senators, opposition bets have yet to campaign and could still catch up.
At this time, it appears — yellow surveys-wise — that there are only two of the opposition’s eight Senate bets — Mar Roxas and reelectionist Bam Aquino — who have a “statistical chance of winning.”
Even Trillanes knows that these pre-election surveys, whether SWS or Pulse Asia, hardly provide an accurate electoral “snapshot” of the pulse of the people and few, if any, buy these survey results, knowing these are done for mind-conditioning purposes. Then, too, it’s also a matter of some paid surveys, where a paying bet gets to jump up the senatorial electoral ladder, despite that paying bet not really figuring in a real survey.
Despite the weak chances of opposition bets of winning Senate seats, Trillanes says: “I am confident that once the campaign starts, they will catch up. Those who have nothing to show, whose only capital is name recall, will drop out of the rankings first.”
What? His Magdalo bet, Gary Alejano, will make it as a senator and on the strength of an endorsement from Leni and, of course, his co-coup plotter Trillanes? What a huge joke!
The Senate race, Trillanes stressed, will be an avenue for disgruntled voters to show their opposition to President Duterte.
Geez, Trillanes, the opposition bets have been and continue to be publicly showing their opposition and more against Duterte. There is no need for more proof of their opposition and disgruntlement against the President.
That will be proven again come election day. Trillanes will be lucky if just one yellow bet makes it to a Senate seat.
