The Department of Education (DepEd) yesterday assured all non-teaching personnel nationwide that they can immediately get their performance-based bonus (PBB) when they have completed the requirements.
Lawyer Domingo, president of the Department of Education-National Employees’ Union (DepEd-NEU), noted that the division offices are now working on the documents for the release of their performance bonus.
“They [DepEd management] told me that the non-teaching personnel will be paid only that there are guidelines or requirements that are being followed which are now being complied to by the division offices,” Alidon said.
The DepEd-NEU claimed their bonuses for 2017 and 2018 have not yet been received.
The Education department, however, assured the group that it will do something so that their bonuses will be released immediately.

“[Education] Secretary Leonor Briones is really for the welfare of our employees. We (DepEd executive committee members)will assure that their grievances and, of course, their needs will be addressed,” DepEd undersecretary for finance Anne Sevilla told the Daily Tribune in an interview on Monday.
The DepEd-NEU is the only non-teaching organization accredited by the agency. Of the 50,000 non-teaching employees nationwide, more than 30,000 are members of the organization.
The Education department, meanwhile, said it already started releasing the PBB for fiscal year 2017 for its school-based personnel since 21 January, Monday.
It noted that the school division offices of the National Capital Region and Regions IV-A, XI and XII have received their special allotment release orders (SARO) from their respective Department of Budget and Management (DBM) regional offices.
The SARO is also processed by the respective DBM regional offices for release to the school division offices of DepEd Regions IV-B, V and VII.
As for the remaining DepEd regional offices, their documentary requirements are undergoing the evaluation of the DBM central office. Once cleared, these shall also be endorsed to the respective regional offices for release of funds.
The PBB is “a top-up incentive given to personnel of bureaus or delivery units in accordance with their contribution to the accomplishment of their department’s overall targets and commitments.”
