Together with mobile gadgets, apps are now indispensable in providing just about anything anyone needs conveniently, quickly and creatively. Aside from making smartphones functional, there are games or music apps that entertain, fitness and health apps that record distance jogged and heartbeat rate, maps to guide a traveler to the destination, etc.
Among the popular apps because of their usefulness are navigation apps that show where one can find what he or she is looking for. The latest of such app is called San Bidet developed by Lawrence Velasco.
Named after the faucet-like toilet fixture for cleaning the genital or buttocks after peeing or pooing, the app is helpful, sort of, when someone suddenly has to answer the call of nature but doesn’t know where the nearest restroom is. When activated, the San Bidet shows, supposedly, the locations of the nearest toilets with a bidet.
When tested, the app showed that such toilets nearest the Daily Tribune office are in shopping malls in the Makati Business District. Being distant, of course, it is not practical to go there to empty one’s full bladder or colon. For those who will brave the distance, they may be disappointed to find no bidet in some of the malls’ restrooms once they get there.
In any case, Velasco can still improve the app to include more locations of a toilet with bidet or another programmer can create a version that shows more sites. If the app loses its appeal, emergency LBM can still be dealt with in the traditional way using tissue paper or tabo and soap in any clean or smelly restroom.
