Senatorial candidate Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Sunday joined two big Pentecostal groups to pray for a better Philippines.

Go was with the International Missionary Day of the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ in the afternoon in Imus, Cavite, led by the Goodman of the House, Apostle Arsenio Ferriol.

With the theme “The Election of the Apostle is the Election of the Church”, the Missionary Day in Imus was held simultaneous with similar gatherings in other parts of the country and on live streaming to allow believers in other parts of the world to participate in the event.

In his brief message, Go said he was initially reluctant to run for the Senate until President Rodrigo Duterte told him to throw his hat into the political ring.

He stressed his decision was based on the trust he has with his mentor and their faith that Filipinos will choose their destined leaders.

“Ayaw ko rin talagang tumakbo. Subalit sabi ni Pangulo: Bong tumakbo ka. Naniniwala ako na kung saan man ako dalhin ng tadhana, gagawin ko lahat para magserbisyo sa tao,” Go recalled.

Go said he would rather not discuss politics in the purely religious gathering. However, Go said he is willing to share with them some of his plans if by will of God he wins a seat in the Senate.

Go said he would want to improve the delivery of medical services in the country, including the institutionalization of Malasakit Centers in all the provinces and urban centers of the country to provide the poor with more access to the government’s medical assistance programs.

He noted that presently there are already 20 Malasakit Centers. In addition, he said he has proposed programs from agriculture, education, and the creation of a Department of OFW, among others.

“And of course susuportahan ko ang legislative agenda ni Pangulong Duterte. Tuloy-tuloy po ang kanyang kampanya laban sa korapsyon, droga at kriminalidad. Suportado ko po iyan dahil alam n’yo at nararamdaman n’yo po naman ngayon kung anong pagbabago ang nangyayari sa ating bansa,” Go said.

He assured them that in the next three years President Duterte will do everything in his power to realize his promise of real change and progress for the country.

Earlier on Sunday morning, Go received a pray over when he joined the Annual Thanksgiving Service and Family Day of the Philippine Apostolic Revival Center held at Quirino Elementary School, Anonas Project 2, Quezon City where he was invited as special guest.

Led by Rev. Ceasar Pestano, the leaders of the Pentecostal congregation laid their hands over Go to pray for his safety and for wisdom for his bid for a Senate seat in the coming 2019 midterm elections.

“Give him wisdom, give him the fear of the Lord; for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We need a God-fearing leader in this country, Lord bless him,” the congregation prayed.

Addressing the flock earlier, Go thanked them for inviting him to their prayer gathering and told them that President Duterte has asked him to extend his congratulations to the group.

Likewise, Go said that if the congregation needs the assistance of the government, they should not hesitate in bringing their concerns to him.
