A janitor’s honesty was recognized by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) following his return of dollar bills he found inside an envelope in a money changer kiosk at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal identified the airport personnel detailed at NAIA 1 as Jeffrey Almoguerra, an employee of Philcare Manpower Services and a father of two kids.
Almoguerra immediately informed a security guard when he found the envelope at the counter of a foreign exchange shop. Together, the service crew and the guard brought the envelope to the lost and found section of NAIA 1.
The envelope had no markings, thus the MIAA will ask any claimant questions that may prove his or her ownership of the bills, including what currencies were involved and in what total amount.
Monreal ordered Almoguerra’s inclusion in the roster of awardees of MIAA for the month of February.
“We do this (give awards) because we want everyone in the MIAA organization to emulate the simple yet noble deeds such as what Mr. Almoguerra exhibited,” Monreal said.
“I urge all our service contractors to also recognize their employees. We want goodness and honesty to become viral in NAIA,” he added.
