The yellow ouster plot on the late Chief Justice Renato Corona led by the so-called Corona Resign Movement (Core) was a patent operation of the Liberal Party (LP) led by now senatorial candidate Mar Roxas.

The plan was cooked up at the LP headquarters in April 2012 at the old Roxas-Araneta compound in Cubao, Quezon City and mapped out the well-funded effort prior to the Senate impeachment trial.

The meeting brought together the most rabid of the yellow groups surrounding Noynoy for the effort which was the removal of Corona at all costs.

LP’s role in the plot was so blatant that the anti-Corona Core meetings were then done inside the party headquarters, a property owned by the elite Araneta-Roxas clan of Mar.

The all-out effort to remove Corona was also orchestrated from the Palace as the administration of Noynoy coined the “Reclaim the SC” movement.” It succeeded and led to the appointment of the fraud Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

The ultimate goal then was to place the Supreme Court (SC) and the whole judiciary under the control of the Palace and to have key court cases, such as those involving the disposition of Hacienda Luisita and the protest suit of Roxas in his failed bid to win the vice presidency against VP Jojo Binay, under a more favorable light.

Corona’s impeachment that was initiated by the House allies of Noynoy proved to be well-funded as it was found in the months after Corona was ousted that the P142 billion Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) fund was used to leverage his quick removal.

Corona who did not take the yellow assault on him lying down revealed then through his lawyers an alleged conspiracy that started from the yellow House alliance which the LP initiated mainly as a result of the tribunal’s directive for Hacienda Luisita, owned by Noynoy’s relatives, to be distributed to farm workers and the Cojuangco-Aquino clan’s demand for a P10-billion compensation from government.

Corona added further the obstinate crusade to boot him out of the SC is also about the “need to nullify the constitutional election of the sitting Vice President.”

Binay won the vice presidency in a dramatic fashion coming from behind to pull the rug from under Mar who supposedly magnanimously gave way to Noynoy as LP standard bearer in the 2010 elections. Of course, the LP needed a bet who was acceptable to voters then since Mar was not rating in the leaders’ column then.

Corona’s lawyers also revealed a P100 million offer for each Senator-judge in the impeachment court to accede to the wishes of Noynoy which also showed the desperate intent of those seeking Corona’s ouster.

Later on, through a series of revelations from Senator-judges, it was found that the money, which was packaged similar to the Priority Development Assistance Fund that the SC declared illegal in 2013, came from the DAP.

It was later proven that the ultimate goal of Noynoy, Mar and the LP was to exercise control over the judiciary starting with the ouster of Corona.

Noynoy made known when he assumed office that he would not recognize Corona as Chief Justice since he was an appointee of his nemesis and predecessor, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, during the twilight of her term.

Corona and the SC thereafter became fair game for Noynoy and his yellow mob claiming that the justices, being appointees of Gloria, were all tainted with corruption.

There were several instances when the decisions of the court were not complied with by the administration of Noynoy, primarily in situations where the Department of Justice, then under now detained Sen. Leila de Lima, was involved.

Noynoy also initially tried to place the control of the judiciary funds under the Department of Budget and Management, then under LP strategist Butch Abad, through an item in the budget that would have allowed the impounding of the judiciary funds that would have violated the fiscal autonomy of the judiciary provided under the Constitution.

Such yellow conspiracies should never be allowed to make a return either in politics or in government which a total rejection of their breed in the polls will assure.
