Smart Communications unveiled its latest lineup of digital innovations and services at a powerhouse event attended by executives, endorsers, celebrities and partners.

Internet-powered digital products have made it possible for anyone to do just about anything — from connecting with loved ones wherever they are in the world, to making real-time transactions, to filling one’s downtime with games or streaming movies/television shows and more.

Now, anyone in the Philippines can do these things seamlessly as the country’s leading digital services provider PLDT Inc. and its mobile arm Smart Communications unveiled their latest lineup of digital innovations and services at a powerhouse event entitled “Unlock the Future.”

This was attended by the two organizations’ executives, endorsers, celebrities and partners at the Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

According to Oscar Reyes, Jr. PLDT and Smart’s senior vice president and Consumer Business Market Development head, “Over the past years, we’ve been hard at work to future-proof our network and beef up our digital content and product partners. We’re delighted to present our most exciting services that are designed to meet the ever-evolving needs of Filipinos.”

Some of the latest PLDT offerings include its Home Fibr Google WiFi Plans which feature a whole home WiFi network system that ensures stronger Internet connection. There’s also the PLDT Home TVolution Lite that’s powered by Roku — a plug-and-play device that allows users to stream and enjoy watching thousands of shows and movies on Cignal, or in many video-streaming channels such as iflix, Netflix and Fox+.

Smart, on the other hand, announced its partnership with popular smartphone manufacturers such as Oppo, Samsung and Starmobile to give customers a chance to upgrade their phones to long-term evolution (LTE)-capable handsets (such as the Oppo A71, the Samsung J2 Core and the Starmobile Play Click TNT) that come with special discounts and freebies.

In the meantime, Smart’s GigaSurf data subscribers are entitled to its Video Everyday promo, allowing them to enjoy up to one hour of video access daily for YouTube, iflix, iWant, Cignal Play and NBA League Pass.

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Smart announced its biggest anniversary e-raffle promo in the company’s history, which gives customers a chance to win data packages, MVP Rewards points and LTE smartphones every month. Ultimately, one lucky subscriber will get a chance to win P25 million in cash during its grand raffle on 25 February 2019.

PLDT is working on its 5G network service that is set to roll out to the public soon. According to Joachim Horn, PLDT’s Chief Technology and Information Advisor: “we are already engaging in understanding and developing our 5G solution for our customer, It will not replace 4G, rather it will add to 4G many more functionalities that will improve Internet speed, and revolutionize the Internet of Things.”

The Internet of Things, or IoT extends Internet connectivity beyond traditional devices such as desktops, laptops and mobile phones to a diverse range of devices and objects that are used every day. Examples of these include lights in the home or in commercial establishments, electronic appliances, speaker systems, vending machines and even cars.

Just recently, PLDT powered its very first 5G cell site in Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga through a partnership with Clark Development Corporation.
