Photo indosports JAKARTA, Indonesia — The Philippines harvested two more bronze medals as Jefferson Rhey Loon and Dines Dumaan dropped their respective semifinal battles in the pencak silat competition of the 18th Asian Games Sunday at the Padepokan Pencak silat in East Jakarta.

Loon failed to make it to the championship round after bowing to Ngoc Toan Nguyen of Vietnam, 0-5, in the men’s 60-65kg category.

Moments later, Dumaan suffered the same fate as he fell prey to Muhammad Faizul Nasir of Malaysia, 0-5, to settle for bronze medal in the men’s 55kg class.

Trailing after two rounds, Dumaan said he felt he could have won the match following a strong third round performance, but the scorecards didn’t favor him.

“I have a lot of kicks that were not counted,” Dumaan, a gold medalist in the 29th Southeast Asian Games last year in Kuala Lumpur, told Daily Tribune’s Asiad coverage supported by Primehomes.

“On the other hand, all of my opponents’ kicks were counted even if most of them didn’t land.”

Dines had 14-9-8-11-15 in three rounds of sparring while Nasir had scored of 17-16-13-14 and 18.

“It’s okay. It’s still a bronze medal for the Philippines.”

Meanwhile, Cherry May Regalado will try to deliver the country’s third gold medal as she competes in the medal round of pencak silat’s form event also at the Pencak silat TMII Hall.

Regalado finished joint second with Vietnam’s Vuong Thi Binh on scores of 447 in Group A of the women’s single preliminary round.

Vilaysack Tunee of Laos topped the round with 455 points while Malaysia’s Ratius Norshahirah was fourth with 440.
