Now, there’s a computer — a laptop at that — for every student enrolled in the Manila College of Accountancy and Finance of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa.
Also achieving the ideal 1:1 student-computer ratio was PUP Taguig following the donation of 304 units of pre-owned laptops that had been refurbished to meet academic requirements.
“This donation will be an instrument in our pursuit of academic excellence,” PUP accountancy dean Sylvia Sarmiento said during the turnover of the computers by Bayer Business Services Philippines Inc. (BBSPI).
The dean said the laptops will benefit the students in their academic work, with the college previously having only 20 computers.
Director Marissa Ferrer of PUP Taguig, for her part, said the laptops will be placed in the library, extension and research office and in the offices of student organizations.
