Seven bandits of the Daesh-inspired Toraife Group were killed by pursuing government forces in Sitio Kabasalan in Barangay Darampua, Sultan Sa Barongis town, the military reported yesterday.
The operation was launched after residents complained of being harassed by the bandits under Salahuddin Hassan alias “Orak.” Daesh is another name for the Islamic Group.
The government’s Joint Task Force (JTF) Central was aided by Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) fighters in pinpointing the location of the terror group.
The fatalities who were identified only through their last names were sub-commander Abdullah, Rasul, Bayan, Hamdan, Abubakar, Tima and Hairiya.

“We are happy that the level of security awareness and vigilance of the civilian populace is becoming high,” Sobejana added, referring to the tip they received from Sitio Kabasalan residents on the presence of Hassan’s group in their community.
