One of two suspects in vehicle theft allegedly specializing in motorcycles was slain in an encounter with Antipolo policemen Monday night.
The suspects forcibly took the motorcycle of a man who was just buying cigarette at a store.
“They pointed their guns at me and punched me and then they took my motorcycle,” said the victim who requested anonymity.
According to the police, the two suspects also forcibly took the motorcycles of two more victims in different parts of the city.
However, the two suspects made a mistake when they passed by Marcos Highway where the police were conducting Oplan Sita.

“When my operatives flagged the two to stop they fired at the policemen. There were bullet holes in one of our police cars,” said Supt. Villamor Banawagan, chief of the Antipolo City Police.
The police gave chase and a firefight ensued resulting in the death of one of the suspects while the other managed to escape. The police are still trying to establish the identities of the slain suspect and his cohort.
Banawagan said the two suspects are probably members of a crime group involved not only in vehicle theft but also in robbery and illegal drug trade.
