AFP assured of Duterte support

CATBALOGAN, Samar—Soldiers wounded in action can expect government support following President Rodrigo Duterte’s assurance through Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go.

Go visited the soldiers at the Camp Lukban Station Hospital here to personally check on the condition of three soldiers wounded in action.

He took the opportunity to assure the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) of President Duterte’s full support.

Go was here for the celebration of Samar Day.

His visit was highlighted by his presence in the hospital wards to get in touch with the soldiers.

“They are recovering already,” Go said. “Hopefully they can leave the hospital and go back on duty.”

He said he will extend help if the three wounded soldiers need to continue treatment in Manila.

“Anything that they need in Manila, the government is willing to help them,” he assured.

Hospital doctor Captain Nikaelle Guevara said Lukban Station Hospital needs an x-ray machine as well as new hospital mattresses for the soldiers. His requests, Go said, will be granted but should follow government procedures and formalities.

“You write us a letter then I will immediately follow it up,” Go said, adding it is in line with President Duterte’s commitment to support the AFP.
