ROMAN PROSPERO If Justin Brownlee has to choose, he would don the Ginebra jersey forever.
Brownlee laid out that bold statement after towing the Kings to their first Commissioner’s Cup title in 21 years via a 93-77 win over San Miguel Beer in Game 6 of their Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup best-of-seven finals series at the Mall of Asia Arena.
In was his third title in three finals appearances for Ginebra since coming in as a replacement to original import Paul Harris, who injured his wrist in the first game of the Governors’ Cup two years ago.
“I wish forever,” said Brownlee, who had 31 points, 19 rebounds, seven assists, four blocks and two steals in Ginebra’s title-clinching victory.
“But I don’t know. We’ll just see how it goes. I hope for a long time.”

Brownlee, 30, already served as Ginebra import for four conferences with last year’s Commissioner’s Cup being the only time the team didn’t bag a championship.
From the looks of it, Brownlee is here to stay as he will also be the Kings’ reinforcement for the upcoming Governors’ Cup.
Brownlee still couldn’t believe his PBA career would turn into a fairytale that started with a buzzer-beating trey for the title back against Meralco that ended Ginebra’s eight-year title drought.
