Two suspected hit men believed to be involved in a series of deadly ambushes were killed after they shot it out with lawmen in Binangonan, Rizal on Sunday afternoon.
The police identified the slain suspects as Richard Alcantar and Jeffrey Landingin.
According to the authorities, an alert on the two suspects was raised after their vehicle passed a checkpoint in the town of Rodriguez.
The police sent a team to follow the vehicle of the suspects but they apparently noticed the tail and fired at the lawmen near an apartelle in Manila East Road in Binangonan.
Alcantara was killed near the driveway of the apartelle while Landingin was shot inside the building.

The police said they recovered three firearms after searching the vehicle of the suspects.
Also discovered in the parking lot of the apartelle was another vehicle with several car plates inside as well as another firearm.
Investigators said the slain suspects are believed to be members of a gun-for-hire group.
