Mr. Clean, the bald, muscled cartoon laundry detergent endorser, will not approve of former child actor CJ Ramos –Cromell John Ramos in real life.

Ramos yesterday admitted he was caught by policemen buying shabu last 31 July in Caloocan City only because he was prepping himself for the “rigorous” task of washing clothes.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar presented Ramos to media as a warning to showbiz personalities who are into drugs that the police are watching them.

“I was to do the laundry then, but my body was aching. So I needed a strength booster,” said Ramos in Filipino. He last appeared in the Tanging Yaman television series years ago.

Now 31, he said he turned to drugs 15 years ago after his showbiz career came to a grinding halt.

“I am a victim here. But the problem is we have allowed ourselves to be victimized by a really bad vice,” he said.

Ramos said that it was hard sustaining his addiction. Being jobless, he said he asked money from his parents without their knowing he was buying drugs with the money they gave him.”

Eleazar said Ramos was nabbed with Louvella Gilen, 36, at around 10:50 p.m. along Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City. Two sachets of shabu were seized from them.

Two college students were arrested Thursday night with P13,600 worth of “kush” or high-grade marijuana inside an eatery along Welcome Rotonda in Quezon City.

The students claimed they were users and not pushers of marijuana whose medical benefits they hailed, including in easing anxiety.

Supt. Giovanni Caliao, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 7 chief, said pushers have gone high-tech as they use social media in transacting with buyers.

Makati Mayor Abby Binay yesterday lauded four barangays declared clear of illegal drugs by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Program.

Two of the villages were certified as “drug-free” and the other two as “drug-cleared” barangays.

Barangay Urdaneta, the first in the city to be declared as “drug-cleared” and eventually “drug-free” as of February this year, has been joined by San Lorenzo (drug-free), Forbes Park (drug-cleared) and Magallanes (drug-cleared).

The said barangays are led by village chiefs Leonard Alandy-Dy (Urdaneta), Ernesto Moya (San Lorenzo), Evangeline Manotok (Forbes Park) and Councilor Armando Padilla (Magallanes), president of the Liga ng mga Barangay.

An 18-year-old girl allegedly led a 14-member gang of drug pushers nabbed by police and Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency operatives in Marikina on Thursday.

Sr. Supt. Roger Quesada, chief of the Marikina police, identified the alleged gang leader as Kathleen Dizon.

Arrested with her were Rowel Cruz, 21; Almair Bao, 26; Jhohanie Biston, 30; Virgilio Piala, 46; Indar Magangcong, 48; Ariel Lim, 43; Archie Rivas, 37; Ryan Bermillo, 30; Jay-R Santos , 32; Renevin Baylon, 37; Raymond, Malabiga, 33; May Anne Camacho, 34 and Rolando Liwanag who is 60 year-old already.

Quesada said the suspects were apprehended in two houses along Singkamas and Malungay Streets in Barangay Tumana.

Forty-four sachets containing 65 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P472,000 were seized from the suspects.

In Pasig City, three were nabbed in two drug stings. At 4:50 p.m., Helen Camacho, 45, and Norman Ramos, 57, were nabbed inside a house in Victorino Street in Brgy. Santolan.

Recovered were three sachets of shabu and three P100 bills used as buy-bust money.
