She and her groups that suddenly sprout seem to never stop trying to destroy the Supreme Court justices who, through a quo warranto, ousted SC chief justice, now Atty. Lourdes Sereno.

Sereno’s hand was again all over a new group of claimed theological educators on Wednesday, baring its opposition to Associate Justice Samuel Martires’ bid for the Ombudsman post, which is to be vacated by Conchita Carpio-Morales, who marked her office with her infamous brand of selective justice.

Justice Matires is the candidate endorsed by the Supreme Court whose justices gave him 11 votes.

Fearing that Martires will be voted in by the majority of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) panel as the next Ombudsman who will be serving for seven years, the new Sereno group, calling itself as the Group of Evangelical and Catholic theological educators, said in a statement the Filipino people “deserve better” than the possible appointment of Martires as the country’s next graft-buster.

It will be recalled that earlier other groups had sprouted in support of Sereno. These groups (that probably are one and the same and merely have a change of names and spokesmen) blasted away at the other justices who had voted against Sereno. This was after the JBC had announced the five senior associate justices are automatically included in the list to be submitted to President Duterte among whom are Justices Teresita de Castro, Noel Tijam and Diosdado Peralta, questioning their alleged failure to submit their 20-year Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net worth (SALN) despite the fact the JBC requirement is for 10 years.

De Castro submitted more SALN than what was required and this was confirmed by the JBC itself.

The statement read by Annabelle Sabanal, the group’s spokesman, said: “The appointment of (Martires) as the next Ombudsman is to besmirch the institution and compromise its independence.”

As usual, the opposition tried destroying the reputation of the justice, just as the other claimed groups of Sereno tried to destroy the justices who had voted to oust her.

The press statement said: “To appoint someone (Martires) with such a history of enduring bias and questionable integrity violates the constitutional mandate and purposely blurs its vision,” Sabanal added.

“The Sereno group should examine more closely its idol, since she has been proven to have a history of being a serial liar.

This is really so laughable a statement, considering the fact the person they support, Sereno, already has been proven to be constitutionally unfit for the highest judicial post in the judiciary.

As for the group’s claim Martires has questionable integrity, perhaps the Sereno group should examine more closely its idol, since she has been proven to have a history of being a serial liar. Her history of more than 20 years in violating the law requiring all government employees, officers and even the Supreme Court justices to submit yearly their SALN.

Sereno also besmirched the justices and the SC itself. She is a disgrace!

Sereno violated this constitutional requirement and even manufactured some of her SALN.

This was testified to by a JBC officer before the House committee hearing the impeachment complaint against Sereno. The question that still hasn’t been answered is why Sereno still made it to the list despite their knowing that she had lied blatantly and even manufactured “evidence.”

This could be called a “mortal sin” committed by the then pretender of a chief justice as the group’s “theologians” know, or should know, about sins.

It is fact that Sereno was included in the list by the JBC that prepared and submitted it to then President Noynoy Aquino despite her not meeting the JBC requirements of at least 10 years of SALN.

Sereno submitted only three SALN, two of which were clearly manufactured since they were not even notarized.

This Sereno group earlier filed an opposition to Martires being in the JBC list.

Sereno’s other “fake” groups also opposed the nomination of Court Administrator Justice Midas Marquez for the position of associate justice of the High Court to fill the vacancy to be created by Justice Presbitero Velasco who will reach the retirement age.

Marquez also testified at the impeachment hearing at the House justice committee.

It is becoming clear that Sereno is too scared of having Martires or any other senior SC justices that had voted against her and testified against her as the country’s Ombudsman, as criminal cases can be filed against her.

Her protector, the yellow president, is out of power and position and the yellow Ombudsman, her other protector, will be gone all too soon.

Sereno will have to face the music and her groups won’t be able to save her.
