“The recent Pulse Asia poll showing an 88 percent performance approval and 87 percent trust was a fair assessment of the performance of Rody.
Former President Noynoy Aquino won’t be around again for the State of the Nation Address (SoNA) on Monday which is not surprising anymore since he never attended any of the past addresses of President Rody Duterte.
In fact, the only time that Filipinos, which he refers to as his bosses, see him now is when he defends himself from the various allegations of irregularities and omissions during his term.
Noynoy has been recommended charged by the Department of Justice and the Ombudsman in the Mamasapano debacle, the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) scam and the Dengvaxia racket.
He is now under close watch by the government from leaving the country through a Department of Justice (DoJ) lookout bulletin issued as a result of the probe on the P3.5 billion Dengvaxia mess.
Housing is probably the biggest issue affecting people the world over.
Malacañang on Monday called for a more thorough investigation into the questioned flood control projects in Taguig…
The defense on Monday backed the move by senator-judges to exclude a prosecution witness who testified on the firearms…
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Noy and his cohorts are under investigation for multiple homicide and physical injuries, malversation of public funds, graft and violation of the Government Procurement Reform Act.
Guevarra said this will be in addition to the criminal charges of technical malversation the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed before the Office of the Ombudsman.
Noynoy also arranges periodic media appearances to make up for his habitual absences from functions expected of a former President.
In a recent briefing, he said that it will be up to the Filipino people to assess President Duterte’s two years in office.
The recent Pulse Asia poll showing an 88 percent performance approval and 87 percent trust was a fair assessment of the performance of Rody in the two years of his presidency.
Noynoy said he would rather watch the Presidential address at home and “focus on what Rody has to say.”
That was Noynoy’s same excuse for not attending the two previous annual address of the incumbent President to Congress.
“Noynoy is sinking into irrelevance due to his incessant harping on the supposed hard work, mostly imagined.
Following tradition and protocol, former presidents have been invited to the President’s address before the joint session of Congress at the Batasang Pambansa.
Former presidents Fidel Ramos, Joseph Estrada, now Manila mayor, have confirmed their attendance.
Former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, of course, will be at the event as Pampanga 2nd District representative.
Arroyo was the primary victim of Noynoy’s patented selective justice against his perceived political opponents.
The multiple cases, from electoral sabotage to the misuse of Philippine Charty Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds, filed against Arroyo and that kept her detained for nearly the full six years of Noynoy were all dismissed proving the political motive of the charges.
Aquino claimed in a Singapore forum last year that “majority of Filipinos seems to be more appreciative of his efforts, as evidenced by my relatively high satisfaction rating when he stepped down from office.”
Had his assessment been consistent with reality, his Liberal Party (LP) sidekick Mar Roxas would now be president and not Rody.
“Our countrymen recognized all of the hard work and they know what is now possible, not only what is possible but what has actually transpired and they know that they have the right to demand that from anybody after us,” he then said.
What transpired during his term was the spread of illegal drugs that threatened to turn the country into a narco state and which Rody is now trying to solve through a determined war on drugs.
Noynoy is sinking into irrelevance due to his incessant harping on the supposed hard work, mostly imagined, in his forgettable six-year term.
Daang Matuwid (Straight Path) was his battlecry during his presidency which never materialized into reality.
In defense of his cousin, Senator Bam Aquino said Noynoy will face the graft and usurpation of authority charges on the 2015 Mamasapano debacle with “courage” and “honesty.”
On the first day of his arraignment at the Sandiganbayan, Noynoy failed to show up.
In hindsight, Noynoy’s term will always be associated with empty brave words and his no shows.
