Both the Palace and the Philippine National Police (PNP) belied yesterday the claim of chief administration critic Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV that his security detail has been recalled.
Trillanes, in fact, has been provided security details that are more than what was called for, Malacanang said.
“(As) per PNP, two were removed as he already had six when he’s only allowed four,” Roque said in a text message to Palace reporters.
With more than enough security detail securing Trillanes, Roque backed the PNP’s move, citing the need to beef up its ranks in the light of the continuing and heightened campaign against criminality.
“Let’s allow our PNP to keep our communities safe please,” Roque said.

Initially, the Palace spokesman begged off from commenting on the matter saying that the issue is best addressed by the PNP.
“That’s not PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s) concern,” he said.
Trillanes claimed he had been stripped of his police and military escorts without any prior notice from the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Orders on the assignment of police and military personnel to him had not been renewed following its expiration last June 30.
Trillanes further complained the Senate has not provided security personnel to him.
PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said the PNP did not order the recall of the senator’s police security.
Trillanes, one of the fiercest critics of the Duterte administration, further revealed that the Senate has not provided any security personnel to him.
Albayalde said on the sidelines of incorporation rites for PNP cadets of the Alab Kalis Class of 2022, stressed that it is likely that the order for Trillanes’ police security detail simply expired and needs to be renewed.
“There was no order to remove the security,” Albayalde said. “It’s most likely that the duty of his police security had expired and they have to be renewed,” he added.
“I will check with the director. There is a process. That’s not forever,” he added.
