Comelec hails teachers

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) commended the many teachers who worked hard to ensure the success of the last local elections. The Comelec also hailed the Department of Education (DepEd) for the role it played towards that goal.

Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones received a certificate of commendation from the Comelec “for her commitment and dedicated service in leading the DepEd, especially the teachers.”

The Comelec commendation said that the teachers “valiantly served as members of the electoral boards, resulting in the success of the 14 May 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.”

The letter of appreciation was signed by Comelec Chairman Al Parreno.

Briones said the teachers and all the personnel of DepEd who played roles in the elections did so as part of their “patriotic calling.”

She said that all educators want to ensure an honest, orderly, peaceful, and credible election.”
