Labor secretary Silvestre Bello III yesterday vowed to quit his post if his accusers could prove him guilty of allegations by a pro-administration group and an individual that he tried to nab money from an erring recruitment agency.
But Kilusang Pagbabago National Movement for Change secretary general Alie Dizon, in a radio interview, said they “documented evidence” against Bello for his refusal to support a Filipino worker’s plea to recover her five-month old baby she had left in the care of a friend in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
“We have evidence that (Bello) is an accomplice (in a case for) refusing to help an OFW,” said Dizon.
The complainant also claimed Bello banned the OFW from the department’s office. The OFW held to have been cussed at by Bello.
Dizon also accused Bello of demanding P1.5 million from the recruitment agency which facilitated the OFW’s contract in Saudi Arabia.

“I did not ask for money, and if that Alie (Dizon) wants, we can undergo a lie-detector test,” Bello said.
Bellow added that the OFW came to his office not to seek assistance to reclaim her baby but to intermediate for a recruitment agency which is facing a case with the Department of Labor and Employment.
