World’s biggest jigsaw

Dubai is no stranger to holding world records and it has reaped more just recently.
On Sunday, the Dubai Multi Commodities Center confirmed it has successfully won a new Guiness World Records title for the largest jigsaw puzzle by surface area.
The 12,000-piece puzzle, when completed, formed the image of UAE’s founding father Zhaik Sayed. It covers an area of 6,000 square meters. DMCC launched its bid for the world record in celebration of the Year of Zayed.
The completed puzzle is located at the Uptown Dubai district of DMCC, master developer of Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), and the government authority on commodities trade and enterprise.
Uptown Dubai, formerly called the Burj2020 District, is a real estate development consisting of more than 10 million square feet of commercial and residential space.
Dubai’s feat surpassed the previous record for the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle, which was measured at 5,428.8 square meters, put together at the former Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong in November 2002.
Dubai also holds the distinction of having the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, and the world’s tallest hotel, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel.
