THE City Kart Racing complex at Sandbox features a new race track with five different layouts.

When in Porac, Pampanga, one mustn’t miss the adventure that awaits in Sandbox by Alviera. Sandbox is said to be the landmark that highlights Porac since it is one of the most visited places in the area. Sandbox is an outdoor adventure park for big kids and for thrill-seekers.

The exhilarating rides at Sandbox include the Giant Swing, the first ever Rollercoaster Zipline in Asia, the Aerial Walk, the Outdoor Archery Range and many more.

As an adrenaline junkie, the Giant Swing was one of the main attractions for me at Sandbox. The ride begins by being strapped in safely into the swinging seat, and soon enough the machine pulls the swing back gradually until one is about 40 feet high.

Up there, the ground seems so far away and everyone down below shrinks, ant-sized. It felt good to be up in the air — everything else feels so small, a reminder that life mustn’t always be taken seriously. One must always stop to smell the roses, or in my case, enjoy the ride.

At 40 feet high, a string snap is audible enough to feel like something broke, frightening the life out of me, but it sure is an invigorating swing ride as I am thrown back to the ground and swung back up. The swing just goes on and on until the speed comes to a halt.

What a way to get the adrenaline going, and that’s just one ride!

If one is up for the challenge, Sandbox has an aerial walk that is all about staying in balance through mapped obstacle courses. Each obstacle is both fun and a tiring thing to do as it requires intense focus. If anyone wants to get their minds off something, this would be the best thing to do. The aerial walk needs all your attention as you go over the obstacles trying not to fall.

As for the Adventure Tower that has four sides to it, each has a wild side. Of course, the first side leads to heights that allow one to view the stunning mountain scenery while enjoying the fresh air. The other sides of the tower are for wall climbing, freefalling and rappelling. It also leads to Asia’s first rollercoaster zipline, the Avatar One. This ride is not as scary as one may imagine; it is just the sudden drops that awaken the senses.

For explorers out there, who want more of the wild side, a four-hectare karting complex, a water obstacle course and an ATV/UTV ride are ready for rumbling.

The City Kart Racing complex at Sandbox features a new race track with five different layouts including a kiddie track for young ones to safely enjoy the sport. I can attest to the amazingness of it all, especially with its state-of-the-art track facilities. This is definitely for those who dream to be a NASCAR driver speeding up in the fast lane. I have to say the adrenaline rush really got to me, I could hardly get out of the driver’s seat when given the chance to ride all throughout the day. Operated by City Kart Racing, the complex offers kart rentals, karting clinics and even motorbike rentals.

The City Kart Racing complex will also be home to mini-golf and playing fields for airsoft and paintball within the third quarter of the year. Equipment will be available for rent on-site.

For those who’d rather live life on the safe side, one may simply enjoy the outdoors and swim or lounge about at the Splash Tub.

The Splash Tub is also a challenge in itself, with a 1,200-sq.m. inflatable obstacle course called the Aqua Dash, where two teams of four are on a race to get to the other side first by crossing wet obstacles like the inflatable Sea Saw, Jungle Walkers, Ball Traverse, Over & Under, Wreckers and more.

Prizes will be given away every month for this 11-obstacle course facility. This reminded me so well of the famous AXN Total Wipeout show that kept my heart racing with every challenge. It was great to experience the challenge myself. There is also a smaller version for kids called Little Warriors.

A lounge pool, shower and changing areas are available for visitors.

Amenities like indoor play areas by L’il People and dining outlets by Morgan’s Comfort Food and Monster Milkshake serving Kapampangan food and refreshing drinks are open for SandBox visitors.

Alviera, which hosts Sandbox, is a 1,800-hectare sustainable estate in Porac, Pampanga. It is envisioned to become the next tourism hub with a number of rising developments, all specially designed and programmed to maintain the land’s natural features. This gives the place all the more reasons for anyone to pay a visit.
