Behind almost every move made by virtual unknowns against certain Supreme Court justices and other justices, along with earlier moves made against Solicitor-General Jose Calida appears to be a woman scorned.

And the moves are done to get some government officials disqualified from races through the filing of cases against them before the Ombudsman for the same reason: To have her revenge through trumped-up disqualification complaints planned and encouraged by the same woman scorned.

The latest move comes from a newly sprouted group that filed a complaint against Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez at the Office of the Ombudsman on Monday over his alleged misappropriation of $21.9 million worth of loans which the SC obtained in 2003.

It was reported the group calling itself the Unified Youth for Social Change charged the SC Court Administrator for violation of Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

Now why would this new group that just sprouted, zero in on Marquez and use as basis for its complaint, the loan obtained in 2003, or 15 years ago, out of the blue, again used against Marquez by this group that probably has a membership of one?

It’s an old accusation lodged against Marquez that had already been cleared years ago but is now being resuscitated to get Marquez disqualified as an applicant/candidate in the Judicial and Bar Council for the post of associate SC justice.

What reason does this pseudo group have in filing a complaint against Marquez if not to get him disqualified, owing to a trumped-up case before the Ombudsman?

Perhaps it should be stressed that given the fact of the 2003 $21billion loan corruption complaint which is clearly a rehashed allegation against Marquez made more than a decade ago, it stands to reason that if Marquez was guilty of the allegations, he would have been dismissed by the Supreme Court en banc.

However, Marquez is still the Court Administrator, which must mean something.

Why would this more than a decade old accusation against Marquez be of interest to this newly sprouted group? Is the woman scorned again behind this revival of the charges against Marquez to get him disqualified for the post of Associate SC justice as replacement for the vacancy that is expected with the retirement of SC Associate Senior Justice Presbitero Velasco?

It has also been noted that much earlier, a supporter of the ousted chief justice, called for a quo warranto case to be filed by the SolGen against SC Associate Justice Teresita de Castro. The justice was accused of not having submitted her Statements of Assets and Liabilities, saying De Castro’s appointment is void from the start.

Clearly, ousted CJ Lourdes Sereno was behind this move, as she blames De Castro, along with five other justices who had voted for her disqualification that led to her ouster.

But the woman scorned has not given up on her moves to destroy those who she believes destroyed her.

Sereno made a loud pitch for the six SC justices who had testified against her, to be disqualified from being considered as candidates for the top SC post which she was forced to vacate.

Apparently, Sereno may still be thwarted in her burning desire for revenge, as Justice De Castro, despite her looming retirement, is still a candidate for the top post.

With yet another aim at having her revenge, there went the same supporter, filing yet another trumped-up case against SolGen Calida before the Ombudsman, accusing him of conflict of interest and graft and corruption for having a majority interest in a security company managed by his family. And to add spice to the Sereno supporter’s complaint, she accused the SolGen of having an illicit affair with one of his employees which the accuser picked up from the gossip-ridden social media.

It will be difficult for the Ombudsman to charge SolGen Calida on the trumped-up charges against him. The law is on Calida’s side.

It is almost certain Sereno is running for the Senate next year and will file her certificate of candidacy very soon under the mish-mash opposition line-up. She hopes to land a Senate seat which she will use as her forum to hold hearings and get her revenge against those whom she believes destroyed her.

Truly, hell has no fury like a woman scorned.
