The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday tagged a convict inside the New Bilibid Prison as the alleged mastermind in the recent kidnapping of Chinese businessman Huang Bo Yu in Laguna.
PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group director Senior Supt. Glenn Dumlao identified convict and NBP inmate Tyronne dela Cruz as the alleged mastermind and negotiator in Huang’s abduction that led to the payment of P2.5 million in ransom.
The manager of Gold Star Stainless Steel Trading, Huang was abducted by three armed men in Cabuyao on June 24, but was rescued by PNP-AKG operatives on June 27 in Canlubang, also in Laguna.
Arrested by the police were alleged ransom-takers Ronald Piloton, Joseph Hibek and Michael Austria, and safe house owner and guard Jowie Talagsad.
Other suspects who remained at large were identified by the police as financier and planner Marlon Sangalang and alleged gang members Romeo Bacuto, Bernardo Atienza, Mark Anthony Sabugo, one alias Critomo and another with the alias Abel.
