A newly elected barangay chairwoman is in critical condition after she was shot Saturday night inside her residence in Binondo, Manila.
The victim was identified as Adora Usero, 47, and chairwoman of Barangay 270, Zone 25 in Binondo.
Usero is now undergoing medical treatment for a bullet wound in her body. She is now confined at an undisclosed hospital for security reason.
Investigation conducted by Manila Police District Precinct Station 11 showed the victim was resting inside her house after attending the oath-taking ceremony of elected barangay officials in Manila when an unidentified suspect entered her house and started shooting her.
According to her neighbors, they heard a gunshot and saw a man, believed to be the suspect, walking casually on Madrid Street.
The footage of CCTV in the areas are now being reviewed by investigators to identify the assailant.
Authorities are also looking into the political angle as the possible motive behind the shooting.
