Operatives of Northern Police District arrested a man and his ex-girlfriend who allegedly yielded assorted illegal drugs during a follow-up buy-bust operation in Thursday night in Manila.
Chief Insp. Arnold Alabastro, head of the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU), identified the suspects as Kim Carlo Gonzales, 28, of Blumentritt, Sampaloc, Manila and Julia Celine Santos, 25, of Galas, Quezon City.
Found in the suspects’ possession were various illegal drugs including ecstasy tablets, marijuana and cocaine which NPD Director Chief Supt. Gregorio Lim said have a combined value of P2 million.

Quoting initial report, Lim told reporters that Gonzales and Santos were caught red-handed after they allegedly handed over some 10 Ecstasy tablets worth P10,000 and another 50 ml. of liquid ecstasy, also worth P10,000, to poseur-buyer PO1 Sunny Mercado.
Mercado was the previous buyer who was waiting for the hot items inside Gonzales’ house at around 10 p.m.
Prior to the arrest, the NPD chief said the DDEU operatives had arrested a suspected drug pusher who pointed to Gonzales as the alleged source of illegal drugs.
With the lead they got, authorities quickly readied a follow-up operation conducted by Manila police led by Chief Inspector Alabastro and in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
At the district headquarters, Gonzales admitted he was into illegal drug peddling and revealed Timog Avenue in Quezon City as the place where he allegedly sold drugs.
Santos on the other hand confessed they were former lovers, but denied she was in cahoots with the former.
Recovered from the duo’s possession include some 800 Ecstasy tablets, 1,450 ml. of suspected liquid Ecstasy placed in GSM Blue and Lipovitan bottles, a plastic sachet containing four grams of dried marijuana and another sachet with 18.5 grams of white substance believed to be cocaine, police said.
Glass and wooden pipes with burned marijuana leaves, a grinder and two weighing scales were also seized inside Gonzales’ residence, same NPD report said.
Case officer PO3 Rodney dela Roma said charges will be filed against the suspects before the City Prosecutors Office.
