The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) maintained its rebound even as Asian markets slid again.
The PSEi closed 7,176.43 on Wednesday, up by 169.22 points or 2.41% from the previous day’s close of 7,007.21.
It was the highest on record by PSEi since June 20 when the benchmark closed at 7,261.62.
All sub-indices were also in the green, with properties and holding firms both gaining more than 3% from last training day.

Advancers numbered more than decliners as 102 corporations were on the positive while 95 are in the red.

Oriental Peninsula Resources Group, Inc. was the biggest gainer in the local bourse, climbing 23.81% to P1.30 per share from last closing’s P1.05. F&J Prince Holdings Corporation, Metro Alliance Holdings and Equities, Inc., and Synergy Grid and Development Phils., Inc. all rose more than 7%.
Forum Pacific, Inc. was the biggest loser after dropping by P0.024 pesos or 10.91% to end up at P0.196 per stock, while the Philodrill Corporation fell from P0.012 to P0.011 per share, down 8.33% from the previous closing.
Real estate giant Ayala Land, Inc. was the most actively traded stock and was up by 2.73%, while BDO Unibank, Inc. seconded the list, but the stock price remained unchanged.
Major Asian markets were down as the bell rang to a close.
The Nikkei 225 ended down by 0.35%, Shanghai stocks traded 1.29% down, while Seoul’s KOSPI closed at 0.08% lower than last day’s close.
