It’s going to be a war as Chinese Taipei fights for dear life against Gilas Pilipinas in the third window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers tomorrow at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taipei.

Fashioning a 1-3 win-loss card, a win over the Filipinos will tow Taipei to the next round of this prestigious tourney that serves as the gateway to the Fiba World Cup in China in 2019.

A massive home crowd is tipped to show up to fire up the Taiwanese to avenge their 83-90 setback from the hands of the Filipinos last November at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

But Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes said they are ready.

“If they beat us, they will get to the next round. So expect Chinese Taipei to throw everything at us on Friday,” Reyes told ESPN5.

Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas totes a 3-1 record and had formally booked a ticket to the next round together with unbeaten Australia.

Reyes, however, stressed they can’t afford to be complacent as a victory over the Taipei will improve their record which would be carried over to the next round against Pool D leaders Iran, Kazakhstan and Qatar.

More than that, a victory would boost their morale when they face the Australians in a crucial battle on Monday at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

“That’s why we can’t afford to relax,” he said. “We want this game to serve as our springboard before facing Australia.”

Reyes is tipped to announce the 12-man roster today.
