Image by. www.cnn.com Ricky Dandan formally stepped down as head coach of Columbian in the ongoing Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup.
No specific reason was mentioned, but he announced of his resignation through an official statement released Monday night.
Dandan spent two conferences with the Dyip after assuming the coaching job from Chris Gavina at the start of this year’s Philippine Cup.
With Dandan at the helm, the Dyip registered a 5-15 win-loss slate.
Still, he stressed that he is proud of Columbian’s vast improvement this conference after going winless in the Governor’s Cup last year and tallying an ugly1-10 record in the All Filipino Conference this year.

“I am deeply grateful to all of our players. It was an honor and privilege to have served them,” he said.
The Dyip could still forge a three-way tie at the eighth spot but an inferior quotient due to huge setbacks would bump them off from that logjam and could effectively kick them out of contention.
Dandan thanked Columbian management led by governor Bobby Rosales and team manager Joe Lipa.
No word yet on who will be Dyip’s next tactician as they are still on a break after wrapping up their import-laden conference schedule with a 115-133 loss to Globalport last Friday.
Dandan said he would focus on his role as deputy of Bo Perasol at University of the Philippines.
“My personal decision now is to concentrate all my attention, effort and energy full time on helping coach Bo Perasol and the UP Fighting Maroons in our quest for Final Four in the forthcoming UAAP Season,” he said.
