Drug charges in violation of provisions of RA 9165 were filed vs suspects nabbed during pot session
A former police officer and his six companions — including a security guard and a female student – were arrested by anti-narcotics agents who caught them in the act of sniffing shabu inside a drug den in Caloocan City Tuesday.
The suspected drug users were identified as Joel Tubera, 49, native of Nueva Ecija and formerly assigned to the Pampanga provincial police office; Leo Padillon, 52; Carlo Raciles, 36; Mark Nicolas, 30; security guard Arjie Luayon, 29; house painter John Paul Sayasa, 30; and student Loraine Calimag, 25.
Recovered from the group were at least four plastic sachets sealed with crystalline substances which is believed to be shabu, drug paraphernalia and two pieces of live bullets, assistant chief of police for administration Supt. Ferdie del Rosario said.
Drug charges in violation of the provisions of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, were filed against the suspected drug users before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
According to initial reports, a concerned resident of the area tipped police officers of the Police Community Precinct-5 on an ongoing “pot session” inside a house located at Avocado Homes in Barangay 177.
The police immediately conducted anti-illegal drug operations in the area and caught the suspected drug personalities while allegedly sniffing the illegal substance.
Del Rosario said they did not resist arrest as they were all caught flat-footed when the house was raided since the main door was slightly opened.
