A 49-year-old Japanese fugitive was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives last June 12 in Malate, Manila.

The suspect, identified as Toshio Hoshino, is a Japanese fugitive wanted in Japan for theft, counterfeiting private documents and fraud. He was turned over to the BI legal division for proper filing of charges and eventual deportation.

The Japanese was the subject of a mission order from BI Commissioner Jaime Morente upon receiving information from Japanese authorities that Hoshino is a wanted criminal in Japan.

Hoshino was reported loitering around Ermita and Malate and was apprehended at a local hotel along Mabini St.

The arrest, according to Morente, is another accomplishment of the bureau, saying the BI is willing to cooperate and work together with other agencies to protect the country from illegal and fugitive foreigners.
