The Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force created by President Rodrigo Duterte is hoping that the famous tourist island destination will be opened on October 26, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat yesterday said.
But Puyat deferred the details on Boracay’s reopening to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), but shared hopes that the inauguration of the island will push through on its expected opening day.
The Department of Tourism, along with the DENR and other government agencies, is a member of the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force created by virtue of Executive Order 53, with Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu as the chairman.
“The one that will officially say that Boracay will be reopened is Secretary Roy Cimatu because he is the head of the task force of the rehabilitation of Boracay,” Puyat said in an interview.
