Dad Digong gets unique message

Parents are the first “influencers” of children. And why not, when mom and dad are the first persons a baby sees and interacts with.

In fact, the presidential daughter swears her dad, no less than President Rodrigo Duterte, is the main

reason why she was able to achieve her status in life.

“I would not be where I am now if I did not have you as a father and my Mama,” Inday Sara, a lawyer, said in her Father’s Day message to his dad she fondly calls ‘Digong.’

As much as President Duterte is hard on Filipinos when it comes to instilling discipline, Inday Sara said she too got the same treatment while she was still a student.

“Dear Digong, you were hard on me about education and work. You’d impressed upon me that I am not a person if I am not a lawyer or a doctor and if I do not work for country,” stressed Inday Sara.

True enough, her father’s challenge was what brought her to where she is now.

Inday Sara became a lawyer like her father, and now she is the incumbent mayor of Davao City.

Did she complain about her father’s being strict? No!

“I am grateful for the rigidity,” she said.

“I have your twisted sense of humor and the drive to achieve and these are some of my useful tools as I navigate life. Thank you. Happy Father’s Day!,” added Inday Sara.
