Andray Blatche declared readiness to face NBA stalwarts Matthew Dellavedova and Thon Maker when Gilas Pilipinas collides with Australia in the third window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifier on July 2 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Blatche, the country’s naturalized player, said he’s ready for the challenge against the Boomers, who got event tougher with the inclusion of two Milwaukee Bucks standouts.

Sitting at no. 10 in the latest FIBA world ranking, Australia is on top of Pool B with 4-0 while the Philippines sports a 3-1 win-loss slate, making this battle highly crucial for both countries entering the next round.

And Blatche is ready to go all out to avenge their 68-84 defeat to the Australians last February in Melbourne.

“Australia is already a tough team,” said Blatche, who dropped by at Smart Araneta Coliseum to watch a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup game late Wednesday.

“They added two great talents in Maker and Dellavedova, but I mean, at the end of the day, we will still come out and compete.”

Fresh from an impressive stint with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association, the 31-year old Blatche landed in Manila as early as Saturday to reunite with his Gilas teammates for the first time since the second window in February.

He started training Monday at the Meralco gym in Pasig City.

“It’s going to be up to us to control the game here at home,” said Blatche, who played seven years for the Washington Wizards and two years for the Brooklyn Nets before agreeing to be the country’s reinforcement for the FIBA World Championship in 2014.

Prior to facing the Australians, Gilas Pilipinas will battle Chinese Taipei in Taiwan on June 29.
