Only a day away from the 2018 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3×3 World Cup, Christian Standhardinger remains a question to play for Gilas Pilipinas.
Standhardinger has a swollen knee which sidelined him the past week.
This year’s top overall draftee has not played the last two games for mother team San Miguel Beer in the ongoing Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.
He might miss the 3×3 World Cup stint set from June 8 -12 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
“There’s no guarantee,” said the 6’8 Filipino-German sensation who sported street clothes in the Beermen’s 129-117 win over Columbian Dyip last Wednesday.

“But I can say that I will try everything in my power (just to play),” he said.
Standhardinger is part of the four-man roster named by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and the PBA last month, alongside Talk ‘N Text’s Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario and Stanley Pringle of Globalport.
The SMB center had a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on his left knee and tested negative for damage or tear.
Standhardinger, however, reports a continuous swelling of his knee, restricting him to participate in on-court practice.
“I can only say (I’m) day by day. I hope it doesn’t swell up more. Obviously I’m trying everything in my power to play on Saturday. San Miguel is doing a great job backing me on that goal,” he added, citing round-the-clock treatment by the SMB staff to make him ready and available to play.
Standhardinger has confidence on his fellow Gilas teammates who will be buoyed by sizeable home fans at the 55,000-seater Philippine Arena.
Standhardinger also remains hopeful he can suit up for the national team.
He had played for Gilas in the FIBA Asia Cup and the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“I’ll do everything to play for Gilas, to play 3×3 and to represent the country,” he said.
Bracketed in Pool C, Gilas takes on Brazil, Mongolia, Canada and Russia in their group phase campaign.
