Five suspected drug pushers were killed during separate buy-bust operations in Nueva and Bulacan, Thursday and Friday.
Police said more than P100,000 worth of illegal drugs was confiscated during the operations.
Three of the suspects were killed when the buy-bust operation in Cabanatuan City ended in a shootout around 5:15 a.m., Nueva Ecija provincial police said.
Killed were Daniel Lopez and Jared Asuncion, both residents of Cabanatuan and included in the city police’s watchlist of drug personalities, and an alias “Jake.”
The suspects sensed that they were dealing with an undercover agent during the transaction, which prompted them to shoot. Lawmen returned fire until the suspects fell.
Recovered from the crime scene were a homemade caliber-.38 revolver, homemade caliber-.45 pistol, a hand grenade, empty shells, some 15.5 grams of suspected shabu, and 0.5 gram of suspected marijuana.
Meanwhile, an alias “JR” was also killed when he traded shots with lawmen in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Duhat, Bocaue, around 1:30 a.m.
His cohort managed to elude arrest.
Operatives recovered fired cartridge cases, a caliber-.38 handgun, six sachets of suspected shabu, and the buy-bust money, at the scene.
Hours earlier, around 11:10 p.m. Thursday, an alias “Nato” was killed and his unidentified cohort escaped during a buy-bust in Brgy. Tibagan, Bustos.
Police found a revolver of a still undetermined caliber, 21 sachets of suspected shabu, fired cartridge cases, and the buy-bust money.
