Glovax, DTI jumpstarts Batangas vax facility fruition

Leading Philippine vaccine distributor, Glovax Lifescience Corp., has jumpstarted its planned vaccine manufacturing plant in the country after its officials’ met with Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque earlier this week. and the National Development Company (NDC).

“Building a stronger domestic vaccine supply remains a key opportunity for Philippine manufacturing. During a meeting with Glovax Lifescience Corporation President Giovanni de Castro Alingog, Secretary Cris Roque discussed the company’s planned vaccine manufacturing facility in Batangas and its potential to strengthen local production, technology transfer, and pandemic preparedness,”said a statement issued by the DTI.

South Korean technology partners

“With support from South Korean technology partners, the project is expected to develop local capabilities for vaccine production and create opportunities in manufacturing and research and development,” the DTI further said.

To recall, Glovax, In 2023, held a groundbreaking of its P7.5 billion vaccine facility in Taysan, Batangas.

State-owned National Development Co. is part of the memorandum of understanding with Glovax for the vaccine manufacturing project.

R&D

Apart from the manufacturing line, the facility will also have research and development as well as animal testing for clinical trials.

Glovax’s vaccine plant in Batangas will have an annual capacity of 50 million doses.

The company has been a distributor of vaccines against polio, tuberculosis, measles, tetanus, and rabies as well as pentavalent vaccines in the country since 2003.
