Baguio City Jail launches first ‘Hike for a Cause’ at Mt. Ulap

The Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory (BCJMD) has opened registration for its first “Hike for a Cause,” a community outreach initiative set for 25 September at the Mt. Ulap Ecotrail in Itogon, Benguet.

BCJMD Jail Warden J/CInsp. Dexter Ngipol said the activity, themed “One Step, One Cause, One Future,” aims to promote physical wellness, environmental stewardship and community participation while supporting jail programs and persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

The event is part of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s K.A.W.A.N.I. Program, which promotes volunteerism, teamwork, physical fitness and environmental responsibility.

“It’s an opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts and advocates alike to make every step on the trail count for something bigger,” Ngipol said.

The hike is open to beginners and experienced mountaineers, with assembly set for 4:30 a.m. at the Mt. Ulap trailhead.
