NephroPlus expands kidney health advocacy nationwide
NephroPlus Philippines is expanding its nationwide kidney health awareness campaign through its Kaagapay sa Kalusugan ng Bato initiative, bringing education on chronic kidney disease (CKD), patient empowerment and community engagement to more Filipinos.
The latest session of the quarterly program was held in Baguio City, where transplant and vascular surgeon Dr. Noli Velasquez discussed vascular access and the importance of timely kidney care for patients undergoing dialysis.
Launched in the second quarter of 2025 in Quezon City, the initiative has since reached six communities across the country, including Biñan, Laguna; Bacolod City; Isabela; Cagayan; and most recently, Baguio City. The program aims to improve public awareness of kidney disease while providing patients, caregivers and communities with practical information on prevention, early detection and disease management.
Each session brings together dialysis patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and community members for discussions on kidney disease prevention, nutrition, medication adherence, vascular access care and lifestyle modifications that can help improve patients' quality of life. Participants are also given the opportunity to consult healthcare professionals and seek guidance on managing their condition.
Beyond health education, the initiative also serves as a support platform where patients and caregivers can exchange experiences and build connections with others facing similar health challenges.
"At NephroPlus, we believe that quality dialysis care extends beyond the treatment provided inside our clinics. Through “Kaagapay sa Kalusugan ng Bato,” we aim to empower patients and their families with the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to actively participate in their healthcare journey and improve their quality of life," said Gowtham Arumugam, country head of NephroPlus Philippines.
