Dua Lipa sues Samsung over unauthorized image use

British singer Dua Lipa has sued electronics company Samsung for at least $15 million, alleging the company used her image without permission to promote and sell televisions.

The complaint says Samsung featured Lipa’s likeness in packaging and marketing tied to a TV campaign that allegedly helped drive U.S. sales last year. It claims the image was used without authorization or compensation and created the impression she endorsed the product.

Lipa says she discovered the use in June 2025 and demanded it be removed, but the company allegedly refused. The suit states the photo, taken backstage at the 2024 Austin City Limits festival, is copyrighted and owned by her.

Filed in federal court, the case includes claims of copyright infringement, false endorsement under the Lanham Act, and trademark violations. It argues Samsung profited from the unauthorized association, amplified by fan reactions on social media.

Lipa is seeking a permanent injunction, damages, and legal fees. Samsung has not commented.
