Iran’s state television satellite feed was reportedly hacked on 02 March 2026, briefly showing messages from US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alongside footage linked to recent strikes on Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) facilities.
The disruption came hours after fighter jets struck two IRIB complexes in Tehran, leaving several employees killed or injured. Satellite transmissions went off the air for several minutes before resuming. Videos of the broadcast circulated online, though Iranian authorities have not confirmed the hacking.
The incident mirrors earlier disruptions in January 2026, when hackers briefly aired footage of exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and calls for military forces to support protesters. At that time, Iranian officials acknowledged temporary signal interruptions but did not comment on the content aired.
Reports indicate that technical difficulties and reduced programming followed the 02 March 2026 hacking, affecting some radio broadcasts as well. IRIB News Network has continued operations from alternative studios after its northern Tehran facility was damaged in June 2025, with staff dispersed across multiple locations.
Security sources said a planned backup studio outside the main complex was never funded, leaving the broadcaster reliant on scattered sites during emergencies. Sunday’s attack also impacted nearby military and police installations, though it is unclear whether the Arg Square radio building was targeted. Casualty reports confirm several employees were killed or wounded.
While videos of Trump and Netanyahu messages circulated online, Iranian authorities have not officially verified the content or identified the perpetrators.
