The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines on Sunday, 1 March, said it is closely monitoring flight operations following heightened tensions in the Middle East that have led to several disruptions.

Since 28 February, CAAP reported that 23 international flights have been canceled and three others diverted by various airlines due to safety considerations and airspace restrictions.

The affected canceled flights include Cebu Pacific with two, Philippine Airlines with eight, Qatar Airways with two, Gulf Air with one, Etihad Airways with four, and Emirates with six.

For diverted flights, Philippine Airlines accounted for two while Qatar Airways had one.

CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario said the agency is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

“We are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East and are in constant coordination with airlines, airport authorities, and international aviation partners. The safety and security of passengers and flight operations remain our highest priority,” Del Rosario said.

CAAP advised affected passengers to coordinate directly with their respective airlines for rebooking options, refunds and updated flight information.
