CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Northern Mindanao Police Regional Office, together with other law enforcement agencies, uprooted an estimated 1,000 fully grown marijuana plants in a remote area of Cabanglasan town in Bukidnon on Saturday.

Police Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, regional director, said personnel from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10, in coordination with the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit 10, the Bukidnon Provincial Intelligence Unit tracker team, Bukidnon Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Bukidnon 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, PDEA Bukidnon Provincial Office, Cabanglasan Municipal Police Station, PAOCC, 8th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, 3rd Special Forces Company, and 403rd Brigade of the Philippine Army, carried out the operation.

He said information revealed that the plantation was allegedly owned by alias “Boy,” a resident of Cabanglasan town who remains at large. The uprooted marijuana plants were destroyed after being recovered from the area.

The seized marijuana consisted of more or less 1,000 fully grown plants, each estimated at five feet in height, with a total estimated market value of P200,000.

All uprooted plants were immediately destroyed and burned on-site, while substantial samples will be submitted to the PNP Provincial Forensic Unit in Malaybalay City for laboratory examination.

Charges for violation of Section 16 of Republic Act No. 9165 are being prepared for filing.

Abrahano commended the operating units for their dedication and efforts to eradicate illegal drugs in remote areas.

“This successful operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to reaching even the farthest corners of Northern Mindanao to eliminate the cultivation of illegal drugs. We remain steadfast in our mission to protect our communities from the drug menace,” he said.
