PAGCOR chief Alejandro Tengco honored at Skål tourism awards

The head of the state gaming regulator was recognized by a tourism industry group for his role in promoting entertainment-linked travel and integrated resort development.

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro H. Tengco was named Best Entertainment Tourism Leader during the 32nd Skål International Makati Tourism Personality Awards held on 26 February 2026 at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila.

The annual awards, organized by Skål International Makati, recognize individuals and institutions cited for contributions to the Philippine tourism industry.

In his remarks, Tengco said PAGCOR views its role beyond regulation, pointing to partnerships with integrated resorts and tourism stakeholders. He said regulated gaming contributes to public revenues while supporting destination marketing, employment and related enterprises.

PAGCOR has also expanded its involvement in sports-related tourism initiatives, including participation in the National Sports Tourism Inter-Agency Committee, which aims to attract major sporting events to the country.

Other awardees included content creator Kyle Jennerman; tourism executive Kevin Tan; government official Margarita Nograles; and world champion gymnast Carlos Yulo, who received the Icon Award for Sports Tourism.

The awards ceremony gathered tourism stakeholders, hospitality executives and government representatives.
