ILOILO CITY -- Around 2,000 participants gathered at Jaro Plaza in Iloilo on Wednesday for the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, with authorities reporting zero major incidents throughout the day.

The rally, dubbed the “Trillion Peso March,” proceeded after organizers secured the necessary permits. Monitoring by the City Tactical Operations Center from 8 a.m. to 6:40 p.m. recorded no EDSA-related disruptions across the city.

Police Colonel Wilbert B. Parilla, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo City Police Office, credited the peaceful commemoration to close coordination with organizers and the participants’ respect for lawful assembly.

“We commend the participants and organizers for observing the rule of law and ensuring a peaceful activity,” Parilla said.

Police implemented active mobile patrols, placed anti-crowd disturbance teams on standby, and directed all deployed personnel to strictly uphold human rights while maintaining public order.

Aside from the permitted march, authorities reported no other EDSA-related gatherings or unauthorized activities in the city, underscoring what officials described as a calm and orderly observance of a historic milestone.
