Top officials of the non-partisan, non-government organization Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership convened at Malacañang Palace on Monday in what was described as a rare show of unity amid ongoing political noise in the country.
In a Facebook post, Kaya Natin! shared a photo of Sen. Bam Aquino, Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte during the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Department of Education and local chief executives for the Nationwide Classroom Building Program.
The program aims to address the country’s classroom shortage, currently estimated at 144,758 units as of January 2026.
The three officials also attended the launch of the “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” initiative, which seeks to strengthen local government units through increased financial support to better address community needs.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. underscored the crucial role of LGUs as frontliners in public service, citing their on-the-ground knowledge and responsiveness during emergencies.
The Kaya Natin! group captioned the photo: “Champions of Good Governance.”
Belmonte currently serves as chairperson of Kaya Natin!, while Aquino and Robredo are board members and chairperson emeritus, respectively. Aquino also served as the group’s chairperson in 2017.
Robredo and Belmonte represented their respective LGUs during the MOA signing, while Aquino witnessed the event in his capacity as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Basic Education.
The event marked the second meeting between Robredo and President Marcos in three days. They previously met in Naga City, where Robredo welcomed Marcos during his inspection of Oplan Kontra Baha operations at Sagop Creek in Barangay Triangulo.
Aquino has also visited Malacañang twice before, during the presentation of the EDCOM 2 report and the MOA signing between DepEd and governors for classroom construction.
Kaya Natin! was founded in 2007 by the late Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Jesse Robredo when he was mayor of Naga City.
