One of third-generation K-pop’s most beloved girl groups is officially making a comeback to celebrate a major milestone — their 10th debut anniversary.
On 23 February, Swing Entertainment confirmed that I.O.I will reunite this May with a brand-new album. The agency will oversee all activities for the anniversary project, marking the group’s first official return since their disbandment.
I.O.I debuted in May 2016 after rising to fame through the survival program Produce 101. The group featured Jeon Somi, Kim Sejeong, Choi Yoojung, Chungha, Kim Sohye, Zhou Jieqiong, Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Doyeon, Kang Mina, Lim Nayoung, and Yeonjung.
Despite massive popularity, the project group concluded promotions after just eight months, officially disbanding in January 2017.
Over the years, members have repeatedly expressed their desire to perform together again, keeping hopes for a reunion alive among fans. After extensive discussions and scheduling coordination, the long-awaited comeback is now confirmed.
However, Kang Mina and Zhou Jieqiong will not participate due to prior commitments, with promotions proceeding as a nine-member lineup.
Beyond the album release, the group is preparing to reconnect with fans worldwide through a concert in Seoul, followed by an Asia tour, signaling a full-scale celebration of their legacy and enduring global influence.
More details on the anniversary comeback are expected in the coming months.
