Central Luzon buzzed with excitement on Saturday as thousands of aspiring scholars sat for the 2026 Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DoST-SEI) Undergraduate Scholarship Examination.
Over 9,000 students from the region’s seven provinces gathered across 10 testing centers, all vying for a chance to become the next batch of “Iskolar Para sa Bayan.”
The DoST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship is a prestigious program aimed at academically outstanding incoming college students who want to pursue degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Beyond easing the financial burden of college, the scholarship encourages students to excel and contribute to the country’s growth in science, technology and innovation.
Scholarship perks go beyond tuition — they include a monthly stipend, coverage of school fees, thesis and book allowances, transportation support, graduation clothing and group insurance.
Another group of hopefuls will take their exam on Sunday, February 22, as the Department of Science and Technology continues its effort to identify and nurture the country’s future STEM leaders.
Applications for this year’s scholarship have closed, but current Grade 12 students can look forward to the next cycle, expected to open around July 2026 for the 2027-2028 academic year.
With the DoST-SEI scholarship, bright young Filipinos have the chance to turn their passion for science and technology into real impact — proving that talent, hard work and opportunity can truly change lives.
