CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Hope and healing have arrived for 1,141 patients in this province as the three-day "Kalinga ni Nanay Surgical and Medical Mission," officially opened its doors on Wednesday, 18 February.
Graced by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, the mission's opening day at the OFW Hospital in Barangay Sindalan, this city, saw Nanay Partylist Representative Florabel Yatco, Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda, and Vice Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda present to observe the ongoing operations.
The Provincial Government stated that the mission is made possible through a vital partnership between the Nanay Partylist and the Makati Medical Center Foundation.
According to records from the Provincial Government, the mission will provide extensive medical services: 131 individuals are receiving major operations; 392 patients will undergo minor surgical procedures; 327 beneficiaries will regain clearer vision through eye check-ups and free eyeglasses; and 292 people are being provided with essential dental services, aimed at improving their overall health and confidence.
Organizers of the mission confirmed that beneficiaries were meticulously identified and prepared with the crucial support of the Provincial Government, dedicated Nanay Community Workers, and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO). Each patient underwent several days of thorough initial assessment and clearance.
"This mission is set to provide critical interventions that will significantly improve the quality of life for hundreds of Kapampangans," Governor Pineda stated, commending the partnership.
Beyond the procedures, every patient will also receive free post-operative medicines and Nanay Hygiene kits, she added, ensuring comprehensive care.
"Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa mga partners natin - sa mga doctors, nurses at medical staff ng Makati Foundation - dahil sa kanilang dedikasyong magserbisyo sa mga underserved marami tayo natutulungan na mga constituents," she further remarked.
She also acknowledged the significant support from national and local leaders, including Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, and other local dignitaries.
